Picky Eaters

What are your family’s top 3 favorite meals?

Beings that nearly everyone in my household is picky in a different way than the other, it’s hard to narrow down to 3 favorites. One kid’s favorite is another kid’s least favorite, all but one kid may love a specific meal and there’s usually one kid that despises that meal, and so on.

If I had to choose a top 3 — meaning the majority of the household loves it — I would have to start with homemade pizza. Everyone typically gets their own mini pizza crust and they’re able to create a custom pizza for themselves. This leaves them less to complain about because they made it how they wanted it.

Next on the list would have to be homemade hamburgers. There aren’t many complaints going on when burgers are on the menu. Especially when the air fried French fries pop out with them.

Last, I would have to say gumbo. This is typically a crowd pleaser and the majority of the kids enjoy it.

If I had room to choose a favorite “quick meal”, I would definitely say grilled cheese and noodles and butter. On lazy nights when cooking is out of the question, it tends to be our go-to.

The Tell-Tale Heart

If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?

If I had the opportunity to meet a historical figure, I would want to meet Edgar Allen Poe. I am only assuming that this question can pertain to a historical figure that is no longer alive, but maybe I am answering completely wrong.

Anyway, I’ve always been fascinated by his work and would love to have a moment to speak with him. He is known for his dark poetry and short stories and I would love to pick his brain a bit.

If given the opportunity to speak with him, I would want to know more about his life and the premise of his gothic-style works.

I survive

Do you trust your instincts?

Yes, I typically do trust my instincts.

My instincts are right more often than not. When my instincts tell me something isn’t right, it’s usually correct. If I have to second guess myself, it’s usually my instincts telling me that something is off.

On more than one occasion they’ve proven to be spot on whenever something seems off.

Mixed Monthly Arts

What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

Per my usual unusual responses I will, once again, answer the question without actually answering the question directly.

My favorite 30/31 days (aka a month) is between the last Thursday of November and December 25th.

The weeks during this period run together but in such a beautiful way. It’s so fast paced, there’s: Family. Friends. Food. Fun.

The kids and teachers get breaks during this time. It’s hunting season, football season and the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Above all else, The family makes excuses to see each other; instead of why they couldn’t make it.

Everything feels like it’s slowed down and family matters more than the daily struggle to survive.

I shall name this “month” Family Holiday Month because the holidays trump all other instances in our lives and we come together for the holidays.

No one can convince me that these aren’t some of the best days of the year.

So while my answer may not be typical. I challenge anyone to disagree with the statement above.

The Most Magical Place. Home.

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

Let me preface this with the fact that my city is very small and there isn’t much to do. Not that it would make a difference but to some that is notable.

The best place in my entire city is…my home. There is no place I would rather be than at my own home.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy doing things outside and I enjoy grabbing a bite every so often. I’m a coach and I travel a lot as well but…

Offer me the opportunity to get take out and come to my wonderful house? Done.

The place my beautiful family and amazing lover reside. The place I wind down in the evenings. The place I look forward to being at after a long day. My home.

It may be cliche and it may sound cheesy but there is no other place I would choose over being at my house and relaxing. The end.

Shattered Isles

What book are you reading right now?

Currently I am reading The Shattered Isles series by Jade Presley.

For all of my fellow ladies who enjoy a nice romantic, erotic, sensua… it’s smut. Good ole hot and steamy smut. It’s great.

This series dives into the forbidden realm of a harem. Only in this instance it is reversed. If follows the main character, a female, who gets married and her spouses go from enemies to lovers.

The stores writing is exceptional and who doesn’t love a well written fantasy novel.

In this universe the characters have powers and can travel through space. The main character and all of her lovers are fighting through several crisis at the same time, while trying to learn each other and accept each other for who they are.

Each brother has a power that correlates to his personality. My favorite being “the bad boy” Lock.

The plot has a nice twist that you likely will not see coming.

It’s a great read. It has a great combination of lust, love, hate, and a fair share of mystery.

Pipe Dreams

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

The perfect place to live, for me, would be more along the lines of “the perfect places.”

If I could choose where to live; I wouldn’t live in one place for the entire year. I’d likely have 2, if not more, places I would go too.

I the scenario of my “pipe dream dream life“ I have a passive income/work from home. So that I can bounce around and still maintain a steady income.

My main living arrangement would be somewhere on the equator. Likely the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico. Somewhere I can be warm and cozy any time of the year, but this would be my summer home.

In the fall/winter I would want to snowboard. So this home would be in the mountains. Probably Colorado. This way I can have the nice white Christmas but still shred some trails and rip some bongs.

My third place of living would likely be an exotic place. Bora Bora or Hawaii. Desolate and away from everything else in the world. With clear waters and plenty of waves to surf.

God winks

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

This may sound common and most will think it’s a silly thing to be excited to find. However, it means a lot to me.

Shortly after my grandfather passed away, I found myself struggling to accept his passing. It was a hard pill to swallow and nothing felt right with him gone.

Not long after he passed, I started noticing little “signs” that his soul and spirit was still with me.

I spent a lot of time in my yard during the spring and was sitting on the swing one day when I saw something blow by me on the concrete. It was small and not typically something that would have caught my attention, but it did. I got up to see what it was and discovered a little red feather from a cardinal.

It wasn’t uncommon to see cardinals in my yard and I often made half-jokes saying that it was him coming by to check on us and say hello. As many cardinals as I saw, I never have found a feather.

Again, this seemed like a minute thing, but it was something that I clung to and used as a reminder that he was still with us.

To this day, I still have it and keep it with his other belongings.

F**k Dishes

What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

Out of all the things I do daily; the one thing I can and will skip, if possible for that day, is the dishes.

I CANNOT stand dishes. Whether it’s loading/unloading the dishwasher or hand washing them myself. It does not matter to me. I hate it all.

The disgusting feeling of touching remaining food that has likely been soaked in sink water or, my absolute least favorite, accidentally touching left over condiments.

I don’t know why but dishes will forever be the thing I cannot just power through.

I will do laundry, from washing to hanging, AND clean the entire house before I even THINK about touching a single dish.

That bad. Have a great day and may your dishes stay clean.
